WHAT IS omt?

(Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment)

Treat muscles and joints to relieve pain, promote healing, and increase mobility

In addition to standard medical school curriculum, physicians who graduate from Osteopathic programs receive specialized training in the body’s structure and function.

This uniquely equips D.O.’s with advanced understanding to treat structural and mechanical dysfunctions of muscles, joints, and muscle fascia, improving blood flow and nerve pathways.

OMT is combined with medicine and surgery for many diagnoses and treatments, focusing on comprehensive patient-centered care.

D.O. PHYSICIANS

After a structural exam to identify sub-optimally functioning areas, e.g.) restricted muscles aggravated by stress or a neck mis-slept on, treatment will follow.

Techniques will seem similar to those a masseuse may use, and others might be quicker, associated with popping sounds.

More specifically, stretching, balanced positioning with breathing techniques, application of gentle and heavier pressures, resistance movements, and rapid maneuvers may all be used.
